Nelda Sawyer's Obituary
Funeral services for Mrs. Nelda Sawyer will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel. Nelda peacefully passed into glory on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in Longview, Texas, at the age of 87.
Nelda Lois Hardy Sawyer was born on November 30, 1937, in Henderson, Texas, to Joe C. and Mabel Lois Skelton Hardy. She graduated from Henderson High School and went on to attend Stephen F. Austin State University.
Nelda spent much of her professional life working at Central Freight Lines in Longview, where she was known for her dedication and work ethic. She was married for 47 years to the love of her life, Ronald "Ronnie" Sawyer. Nelda and Ronnie were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They cherished their time together attending University of Texas football games, enjoying the company of loved ones, and caring for their beloved dogs.
Nelda leaves behind a loving legacy in her family. She is survived by her daughter Stacy Knipe and husband Randy, grandchildren Kristin Knipe, Dalton Knipe and his wife McKenna, and Kelly Williamson and her husband Zac. She was also blessed with a great-grandson, Hayes Williamson. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronnie, her parents and brother.
Nelda will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law: Debbi Sawyer, Jan Blalock, Karen and Danny Lancaster, Annette Corbin, and Patti McIntyre, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
