Naomia Fay “Sissy” Ormes
It is with both heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of the
sweetest woman to ever walk the earth, Naomia Fay “Sissy” Ormes. She left us on
Friday, August 29th , and although we are devastated to see her go, we know she’s now
in the arms of the Lord, whom she loved with all her heart.
She was born on March 5th , 1942, in Longview, Texas to Howard and Lucille Davis. Her
mother always loved to tell the story of the at-home birth delivering a healthy baby boy
and being surprised seconds later with a beautiful baby girl. Throughout her life, Sissy
proudly told people that she had a twin brother named “Bubba.”
After graduating Judson High School in 1960, she met the love of her life, Donald
Ormes, and they were married on January 18th , 1964. Their 61 years of marriage was a
testament to their unwavering love. While her kids were in school, she continued her
education at Kilgore College and enjoyed a career in medical billing. In her spare time
she enjoyed studying the Bible, working crossword puzzles, sitting in her swing, and
visiting with family and friends. One thing she did not enjoy was cooking. Although she
did not inherit her mother’s culinary skills, Sissy was well known for her homemade
pickles, chocolate pies, and M&M cookies. Though she would never win any awards for
cooking, she managed to create a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
Sissy was a woman of great faith and devotion. She taught us all what it meant to love
unconditionally and to walk with kindness and grace. One of Sissy’s greatest joys in life
was being “MawMaw” to her grandsons – Haden, Harrison, and Caleb. She would be in
the stands cheering them on at every basketball, soccer, or baseball game. She was
their number one fan. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren, often
spoiling them with affection, love, and the occasional piece of candy when no one was
looking. They were her pride and joy, and her greatest legacy.
Known for her infectious laugh, quick wit, and boundless generosity, Sissy made
everyone feel welcomed and loved. Later in life she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Although the disease robbed her of many memories, it did not take away her love of the
Lord or her sense of humor. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband
Donald, son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Amy Ormes, daughter and son-in-law
Shanna and Ray Hatcher, grandsons Haden (Sandra) Satterwhite, Harrison Ormes, and
Caleb Ormes and great-grandson Rayden Satterwhite, twin brother and sister-in-law
Howard Ray and Pat Davis, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, former co-workers,
neighbors, family, and friends.
Those who are rejoicing with her in heaven are her parents, her sister and brother-in-
law Shirley and Jerry Lynn Francis, sister and brother-in-law Mary Lou and Herman
Berlin, and father/mother-in-law Hubert and Fay Ormes along with numerous aunts,
uncles, and cousins.
Shawn and Shanna would like to give a special thanks to our cousin Deanne Purifoy for
taking our mom for rides all over East Texas with stops for chocolate fudge sundaes, to
our parent’s neighbor and adopted son Dewayne Mabry for always checking in on them
and providing them homecooked meals, and to MiMi and Jyah for loving Sissy as their
own.
Romans 8:38 – 39 - For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor
demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1st Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing
move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that
your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 6th , 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with the service
following at 2:00. For those friends and family unable to attend, the service will be
livestreamed at www.raderfh.com Afterwards, Sissy will be interred at Smyrna
Cemetery at 18626 Hwy 450 N, Diana, Texas.
