Nancy Grace Tuttle Burks' Obituary
Nancy Grace Tuttle Burks of White Oak was born in Longview, Texas on January 3, 1937, to Andrew Jackson and Alice “Alie” Henderson Tuttle, the youngest of seven children. She departed this life on April 27, 2023, in Longview, Texas. Nancy was a proud Judson Blue Devil and was her class valedictorian.
In 1957, Nancy met her husband, Billy Joe Burks. They were married for 63 years, raised 6 children and were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 2 great grand-children. She worked as a bookkeeper for a local lumber company near LeTourneau. Additionally, she spent years working beside her husband in the grocery business. After retirement she enjoyed cruising, traveling the world, and researching and documenting our family genealogy. She was a self-proclaimed speed demon, avid shopper, and former ballet dancer and clogger. Nancy loved playing games of chance and enjoyed poker, Gin Rummy, spades, canasta and 42 dominoes. She had a talent for making custom button-up shirts for family and friends all over the world.
Nancy is survived by her children: Bruce Burks, David and wife Karen Burks, Joe Clifton Burks, son-in-law Charles Duke and Doug Burks. Her grandchildren: Robbie and husband Daniel, Destiny and husband Tyler, Clayton, Billy and wife Rebecca, Miranda, Bethany, Jodi, Jessie, Jerry, Austin and great-grands Hudson and Kelly, her sister Polly Bates, sister-in-law Carol Burks Wright Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Burks, her son Kelly Burks, her daughter Debra Burks Duke, and son-in-law Robert L. Smith.
A graveside service will be held at Old White Oak Cemetery at 10 AM on Saturday April 29, 2023 with Brother C. Bill Voss officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
