Nan Brown Gilbert's Obituary
Services for Nan Brown Gilbert , 79, of Longview will be 2 PM Saturday, April 2nd at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, 1617 Judson Rd. with Rev. Al E. Birkelund officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery. Mrs. Gilbert died Monday, March 28th at a local hospital.
She was born September 24, 1925 at Marianna, Florida to Clarence C. and Callie Lewis Brown. She had been a resident of Longview since 1965, where until her retirement, she was a primary and special education teacher for the Pine Tree Independent Schools. Following her retirement, she continued her teaching skills by tutoring for five years. Mrs. Gilbert was also a homemaker and an active member of the Mobberly Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two daughters: Barrie Johnson and Bonnie Bell, both of Longview; grandchildren: Greg Pyron, Callie Bourn, Erin Younger, Rebecca Johnson, Drew Bell, and Chase Bell; three great grandchildren; and brothers, Tom and C. Covelle Brown both of Tallahassee, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Gilbert in 1992 and her daughter, Beverly Sue Younger in 1985. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Thursday evening 6 to 8 PM.
