Nadine Viola McCasland's Obituary
Nadine Swain McCasland went to be with the Lord this past Sunday morning, October 16th, 2011, at the age of 90. She and her husband of 65 years,
served the Kingdom of God together and touched literally thousands of lives as they ministered as pioneers for the Lord, starting churches, building sanctuaries & parsonages, and seeing many people come to a relationship with Jesus Christ. Her husband, Rev. Melvin McCasland, preceded her in death in August 25, 2006.
Nadine was born in Hughes County, Oklahoma, on November 20, 1920, to the parents of Oscar and Etta Swain. Being one of four children, she learned a lot about helping, serving, and believing in what God could do through a woman with great heart for God and passion to love people through their trials and tribulations.
Nadine also bore fruit as a mother of five as she taught them to serve God as they walked beside their parents, watching them give everything they had to their Heavenly Father, to be used for His glory and to meet peoples needs. Today, their children are continuing that legacy. Their son Jay McCasland and wife Carolyn of Longview, Texas, serve at North Longview Baptist Church where he is pastor; their son Roger McCasland and wife Linda of Weatherford, Texas, are founders of International Teaching Ministry, Great Commission Ministry & numerous other non-profits and businesses; Nick McCasland and wife Brooklyn of Paradise, Texas; daughters Rita Ogden and husband Noral of Okemah, Oklahoma; Londa McElwee and husband Danny of New Boston, Texas.
The blessing of family goes beyond her own children, as she has more than 40 grand and great-grandchildren. Many of her grand-children are also serving the Lord as pastors and ministers of the gospel.
Following the leadership of her husband out of the oil patch and into to the oil patch as a gospel minister, Nadine was a faithful pastor's wife and served God in oil field camps, rescue missions and small churches in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
Upon retiring with her husband in Weatherford, Texas, she worked with her son at the Pizza Inn and served as manger of Finley Fashion Fabric. Always serving, always helping, Nadine was known for her strong prayer ministry and her helping woman in their walk with God. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford, Texas, and North Longview Baptist Church, Longview, Texas upon moving to live with her son Jay and wife Carolyn. A memorial service will be held at North Longview Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 2 pm, and a graveside and memorial service will be held at Wetumka Cemetery, Wetumka, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, October 19th at 2 pm.
