Funeral services for Myrtle O?Keefe Jones, 89, of Longview will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec 22, 2003 in the Alpine Church of Christ Chapel with Rodney Cox and Lowell Worthington officiating. Burial will be in Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. She went home to be with her Lord Friday evening, Dec 19, in a Longview hospital
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 3, 1914 in Gillam, AR., to Patrick and Laura Jones. She moved to Longview in the late 1930?s, and in the 1940?s, she became a waitress, and worked in several of the downtown Longview café?s. Myrtle was a very active member of the Alpine Church of Christ where her husband was deacon, and an elder. She was a very kind person, who loved to visit and encourage the sick. She always opened her home to others, which gave her an opportunity to show love and hospitality to others. Her kind deeds will always be remembered by many. She raised one very special son, Dwayne H. Jones of Longview, who survives her. Other survivors include her sister, Vivian L. Leith of Longview; niece Patsy Rutledge and her husband Thomas, and their children Erin and John Rutledge, all of Longview, and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a host of friends.
