Myrtle Faye Burton's Obituary
Myrtle Faye Burton departed this life for her heavenly home on January 7, 2009. She was born September 8, 1914, in Downeys Mill, Cass County, TX, to Charles Clayton Miller and Lena Tankersley Miller. She graduated from high school in Haynesville, LA. and soon moved to the East Texas area. She married John Erastus Burton on January 14, 1934. She lived most of her life in Price, TX. Carlisle community, and had lived at Kingsley Place in Henderson for the last eight years.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years in 1987, her parents, her brother, L. O. Miller, and her sister, Bessie Mae Sproles. She was a longtime member of the Carlisle Baptist Church, and she worked at Gibson's in Henderson for over 12 years.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Propes, Mesquite, TX, Cynthia and Steve Withers, Price, TX, grandsons and their wives, Barry and Danette Propes, Richardson, TX, Jay and Meg Propes, Austin, TX, and great-grandchildren, Alexandra Grace Propes, Richardson, TX, Walker Henson Propes and William Hall Propes, Austin, TX.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009, 2:00p.m. at Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson, TX, with Rev. Frank Holrath and Rev. David Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in Rusk Co. Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
If desired, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will be Charles Miller, Ben Marsh, Barry Burton, Blake Pirtle, Larry Ward, and Larry Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Sproles and Jerrill Marsh.
