Myrtle Dodd's Obituary
Myrtle Tharp Seip Dodd, 90 passed away Sunday, August 25. Merte was born in Houston, Tex as on November 12, 1933 to John McCreary Seip and Amy Blanchard (Stafford) Seip.
Merte grew up in Marshall, Texas and attended Saint Joseph and Marshall schools. She was the youngest child in a family of the ten children along with an extended family (her mother was the youngest of twelve) in Alexandria, Louisiana. Merte married Morris Eads Dodd of Karnack, Texas on June 3, 1955, in Marshall, Texas. They lived in Marshall for the first few months of their life together and moved to Longview in 1956. They were happily married for 62 years.
She is survived by her sister Emily Seip Marshall of Shreveport, Louisiana. And three of her five children Daughter-in-law Nancy (Fred) Dodd of Marshall, Texas; Larry Williams (Karen) of Gladewater; Amy and Larry Nolan of Longview; John Dodd of Kilgore; and Morris Junior and Wanda Dodd of Hallsville, Texas. Honorary children: Lisa Mayfield, Murrey and Claudia Rabenhorst. 13 Grandchildren: Shelton (Kelley) Sykes of Aldeo, Texas; Jaclyn, Megan Dodd of Longview, Courtney, (Josh) Dickerson, Charles Richard, III (Elizabeth) Williams all from Gladewater, Texas; Travis McMillan of Longview, Texas, Amy (Dusty) of Little Elm, Texas; Zachary (Kaylyn) McMillan of Liberty City, Texas; Jordan (Nick) Winder of Nacogdoches, exas, Crystal Dodd; Micah (Jacque) Dodd, Morris Dodd all of Hallsville, Texas; and Christina (Dalton) Brister of Milton, Florida.
Her 31 Great -grandchildren: Jackson and Matthew Sykes, Sarah and Rya Wood; Adian Dodd; Blakelyn, Jonathan Carter, and William Duke Dickerson: CJ, Christian, Chandler, and Mary-Elizabeth Williams; Amy Grace and Claire King; Stetson, Sterling, and Steel McMillan, Jaxson and Carter Winder; Kayla and Brian Williams; Blaze, Gabby, and Braxton Mull; Katie, Hailey, and Micah Junior Dodd; Brooklyn , Brennan and Bryant Dodd; Carter Brister; 7 Great great -Grandchildren: Lynlee and Sayble Nutt; Adalyn and Stetson Williams; Kingston, Kai, Koi; along with numerous nieces, nephews whom she loved deeply.
Merte is proceeded in death by her parents John McCreary and Amy Blanchard Seip; her father and mother-in-law Clyde Ellington and Sarah Elizabeth Dodd. Her son Frederic Morris Dodd; and daughter Karen Ann Dodd Williams; Her Brothers and sisters; Frederic Seip; Amy Fabian; John Seip; David Seip; Micah Seip; Catherine Wood; Mary Bechtold; Eleanor Campbell; Betty Dodd Alvis and Nancy Dodd Fulgham Hughes.); her nieces Myra Georgian(Campbell), Amy Graham Smith (Wood); nephews, Captain William Hilric Fabian, Colonel Felix Fabian, Christopher Karl Bechtold; Michael Lawrence Wood.
She has left her family and friends with priceless memories of joy and laughter, but also the legacy of a fife lived fully.
Her love for her husband, family and friends was boundless. She had a special relationship with all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and many others that knew her as "Ammaw". Merte's greatest love was for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Merte loved her children and was their biggest supporter for what they each did and the orga nizations they have helped to build. To that end , in lieu of flowers, the family request honorar iums to Longview Christian School/The Karen Dodd Williams Educational Center. and Concho Hearts Hospiceexcellent care in her final days
There will be a celebration of life service on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 6 PM with visitation at 5 PM at Highridge Church 2011 West Marshall Ave., Longview, Texas.
