Myrna L. Goodson
“Aunt Myrna”
(1943-2015)
Myrna Goodson went to be with our Lord with family at her side on Wednesday, May 27th in Ft. Worth at the Medical Plaza Hospital from complications of a heart attack. She was born November 19, 1943 in Artesia, NM to John and Donna Story. Myrna graduated from Lubbock High School in Lubbock, Texas. She had worked at Community Bank (formerly People’s Bank) in Longview for about 10 years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church from 1992-2015. Following retirement in 2005, she enjoyed traveling and doing volunteer work with her husband, Don Goodson, and their beloved dog, Baby. She loved to volunteer at On Mission Street Ministry feeding and handing out clothes to the homeless on Highway 80. She also volunteered with Campers on Mission at numerous children church camps to repair the facilities and grounds.
Survivors include loving husband of 28 years, Don Goodson of Longview, Texas; Step-daughter, Michele Goodson of McKinney, Texas; siblings-brother John Story and his wife Gayle of Olney, Texas; sister, Irene Speck and husband, Jimmie Speck of Overton, Texas; brother, Carl Story and wife, Mayumi of Weatherford, Texas; While Myrna did not have children of her own, she had several nieces and nephews who claimed her as their second mom. Myrna Goodson was a shining light wherever she went, a joy to be around and a testament to her great faith in Christ. She was selfless and lived her life giving lots of attention to her well-loved family, church family, and many friends. If you knew Myrna for even a minute, you would have been very blessed indeed.
The family invites all to celebrate her special life at 10:00 am on Monday morning at Trinity Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. Graveside services to follow at Tatum Cemetery in Tatum, Texas.
Isaiah 40:31- but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
