Mrs. Roberts was my English teacher. She encouraged me to attend college. So, I did. I became a high school teacher. After 34 years, I retired with a M.Ed. Throughout the teaching profession, I would periodically retrieve memories of Mr. Roberts. I worked for her after school as an "unofficial" teacher aide. She gave me a James R Fletcher Scholarship to help with some of my college expenses. One day, she gave me a quick visit to her house. I was so uncomfortable being there because it was a "rich person's home." Mrs. Roberts conveyed a message to me that...I too...could have such a nice home by getting my college education. It was her, Mrs. Roberts, that inspired me to become a teacher. I do miss her.

Dear Earl, Claire, and Jim,
I was so sorry to hear of your mother's death. She was a very special lady. I especially remember her sense of humor, and I remember the fondness my parents had for her and your dad. I know her health had failed in recent years, but I also know how hard it is to say that final goodbye. You and all the family are in our prayers.##imported-begin##Sylvia McLendon Moss##imported-end##

Earl -- I was so sorry to hear about your mother. I did not know her well, but she used to stop in and visit us at the firm every once in a while. I guess my most vivid memory of her is her visit to Lynn Morrow's halloween party dressed as a witch. She told us that she made sure your Dad was sound asleep before she slipped out the door -- she said he would not have let her out of the house looking like that. I can imagine you have some wonderful memories of your early years with such a fun-loving lady raising you. My prayers are with you during this difficult time in your life.##imported-begin##Emma Carpenter##imported-end##
