I worked for Mrs. Myra Lynn Roberts during my senior year in highschool through the Vocational Office Education Program. I was her office assistant. She was very nice to me.
Mrs. Roberts was my English teacher. She encouraged me to attend college. So, I did. I became a high school teacher. After 34 years, I retired with a M.Ed. Throughout the teaching profession, I would periodically retrieve memories of Mr. Roberts. I worked for her after school as an "unofficial" teacher aide. She gave me a James R Fletcher Scholarship to help with some of my college expenses. One day, she gave me a quick visit to her house. I was so uncomfortable being there because it was a "rich person's home." Mrs. Roberts conveyed a message to me that...I too...could have such a nice home by getting my college education. It was her, Mrs. Roberts, that inspired me to become a teacher. I do miss her.

Dear Earl, Claire, and Jim,
I was so sorry to hear of your mother's death. She was a very special lady. I especially remember her sense of humor, and I remember the fondness my parents had for her and your dad. I know her health had failed in recent years, but I also know how hard it is to say that final goodbye. You and all the family are in our prayers.##imported-begin##Sylvia McLendon Moss##imported-end##
Claire and family, I consider it a privilege to have been a caregiver for your Mother. She was a sweet and dignified lady. Thank you for the opportunity to know and care for her at Summer Meadows and Buckner. God bless each of you.##imported-begin##Marie Powell##imported-end##

Earl -- I was so sorry to hear about your mother. I did not know her well, but she used to stop in and visit us at the firm every once in a while. I guess my most vivid memory of her is her visit to Lynn Morrow's halloween party dressed as a witch. She told us that she made sure your Dad was sound asleep before she slipped out the door -- she said he would not have let her out of the house looking like that. I can imagine you have some wonderful memories of your early years with such a fun-loving lady raising you. My prayers are with you during this difficult time in your life.##imported-begin##Emma Carpenter##imported-end##

Dear Claire, Earl and Betty:
Alvin and I were saddened to hear about the passing of Myra Lynn.
Myra lived a long and full life, leaving us many fond memories. The Khoury's have always thought highly of Myra Lynn and Judge Roberts, and all of you.
I am sorry that Alvin and I are not going to be able to attend the funeral tomorrow, as we are currently in Austin for a judicial conference.
However, please know that you are in our thoughts.

I first met Myra Lynn and 'Judge' Roberts on a Hilltoppers' trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He lost his balance in the dark outdoor amphitheatre and fell down the seats on top of me. I would always tease him about his falling for a 'yankee girl'. Ha ha. Over the years we again would cross paths at Florence Knox's house. When Florence's cousin passed away in Paris, TX, I drove the big 'caddy' and we all took a ride! Those were the days..............I miss those dear friends. I moved to Longview in 1977 and have met the finest folks in being here. I loved the Roberts and will miss Myra Lynn my friend. NRue##imported-begin##Nancy Rue##imported-end##
