Myra A. ?Billie? McBride Hamilton
Graveside services for Myra A. ?Billie? McBride Hamilton, 86, of Longview will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004 at Rosewood Park with Reverend Bill Cunningham officiating. Mrs. Hamilton passed away Wednesday evening June 2, 2004 after a long illness. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mrs. Hamilton was born November 26, 1917 in Shreveport, LA. the daughter of Nick Wallace McBride and Nellie Melvina Woods McBride. She was moved from Shreveport to the family farm and started school in Longstreet, LA., then to Cotton Valley and on to Oil City as her father followed the oil patch. Billie graduated from Oil City High School and left for Shreveport where she was employed by Morrison?s Cafeteria, Sears, and Goldrings where she had many loyal customers. She was retired from Lovelace Clinic in Albuquerque, NM. and from her home sewing business in Longview. Her sewing skills were superb and she received many compliments on the thousands of ladies pants which were sold in discount and department stores. While employed in the laboratory at Lovelace Clinic, Billie had the pleasure of meeting and providing support to the original American astronauts. She had been a resident of Longview since 1974.
Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Kenneth ?Pike? Hamilton of Albuquerque, NM; her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Jack Wilburn and Evelyn Seybert McBride of Vivian, LA; and her sister and brother-in-law, Claris Grace McBride and Pettey Graham of Connehatta, Miss.
Billie is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Nick W. Jr. and Laverne Alexander McBride of Baton Rouge, LA; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Franklin and Mary Helen Ferguson McBride of Longview; brother Homer Thomas McBride of Longview and nieces and nephews.
Billie will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. In 1944, when her mother and two youngest brothers were without a place to live, she provided a home. Later, she continued to provide support and encouragement.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 4, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road in Longview.
