Muriel S. Kulak
Services for Muriel S. Kulak , 84, of Longview will at 2:00 pm Monday, March 12, 2007, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gerald Pinson officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery. Muriel passed away Friday, March 9, 2007 at a Longview hospital.
Mrs. Kulak was born May 8, 1922 in Mt. Park, Oklahoma to Vinet Alfonso and Stella Mae White Sockwell. She started school in Wink, Texas in 1928, and graduated from Talco High School in 1939, and Tyler Commercial College in 1940. She worked for the government in Texarkana from 1942-1944 and then moved to Dallas to work at Hall Wholesale. Sshe also worked as a florist for several years.
On May 9, 1948, Muriel married Jerome Kulak in Garland, Texas, and later moved to Longview in December, 1949.She worked for Mid-Valley Pipeline until her daughter, Linda Susan was born in 1952. Her son, Ronald Jerome, was born in 1956, in the very same room, 313, at Gregg County Memorial Hospital, now Good Shepherd Medical Center.
Mrs. Kulak, a member of Pine Tree Church of Christ, was always very involved in her Children's activities. She was room chairman numerous times, a member of the PTA, Sunday school teacher, Blue Bird and Camp Fire Leader, and Cub Scout Leader, to name just a few. She never missed a ball game, band concert, or school function.
Muriel loved flowers, picnicking, and traveling-both overseas and extensively in all but seven states in the United States. She truly had a zest for life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ernie McGarvey, and son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Alisa Kulak; grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Kulak; brothers, , Vernon Sockwell of California, and V.A. Sockwell of Hide-A-Way Lake; sisters-in-law, Frieda Kulak and Cetrue Linahan of Kilgore. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in honor of Muriel Kulak may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 pm Sunday evening, March 11, 2007 at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd.
