Morgan Coley Matthews' Obituary
Morgan Coley Matthews was born on a Tuesday, May 12, 1987 in Dallas, Texas. She passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from complications during surgery. Morgan is survived by her parents, Van and Carla Matthews, siblings Evy and Coley Matthews, and grandparents Bill and Sandra Coley all of Longview; grandparents Don and Linda Matthews of Mount Pleasant; Best friend and caregiver , Billie Childree, uncles and aunts, Kirk and Christie Eason, Kevin and Kim Matthews, John and Elaine Matthews, special cousins Matt, Erica and Elliot Wickes, Jenny Eason and Kate Matthews and many other relatives and dear friends. Morgan was preceded in death by her grandmother, Evyone Matthews, her great Aunt Deanna Laney and her great grandparents.
Morgan graduated from Hallsville High School in 2005 and was extremely proud of this accomplishment.
Despite her physical limitations she enjoyed life to the fullest; living each day she was given with a huge amount of patience, an infectious smile and an unforgettable sense of humor. She loved the color purple and enjoyed shopping, eating out and talking on the phone (especially to her Bill). Her life-long favorite shows were Barney and Gilmore Girls. She loved her dogs, Sofie and Taffy who faithfully watched over her care day and night.
Morgan was a member of the church of Christ. She loved the church and attending worship was always the highlight of her week.
Most of all she loved her family and just being with them. She adored her sister and brother and was so proud of everything they did. She knew what special children they were from the very beginning, and their devotion to her was amazing. She had a special bond with her grandparents who were by her side throughout her life. She was a daddy’s girl through and through, enjoying sitting in his lap until the very end of her life. She amazed her mother every day with her ability to bring out the best in people and pure joy to everyone she knew.
Morgan and her best friend, Billie shared an almost indescribable relationship. Anyone who knew Morgan knew Billie and vice versa. They were soul mates in the purest sense of the word. Billie devoted the last 18 years of her life to caring for Morgan in the most dignified, loving way imaginable. She was the most fun, faithful friend we could have ever wanted for our precious daughter. We are honored to call her family forever.
While we are heart-broken over the loss of our sweet girl, we are thrilled that Morgan is finally home with God and Jesus, walking, talking, singing and laughing in her new glorious body.
We will celebrate Morgan’s life at Pine Tree church of Christ on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 2:00. Visitation will be Sunday, November 30 from 6:00-8:00 at Pine Tree church of Christ. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
