Montrue Marable's Obituary
On March 23, 2018 God made final touches on Montrue Marable’s mansion. She was warmly greeted at the gates of Heaven by Jesus who hugged her and whispered, “Job well done, Montrue. Welcome to your eternal home.”
Montrue Marable was born February 4, 1926 in Itasca, Texas to James Alexander and Florence Elizabeth Bowers Marable. Times were hard and jobs were scarce in rural Texas, so James Marable pack his family and dreams into the car and headed to New Mexico to homestead. The New Mexico soil was stubborn and the sun blazing hot, but these were no match for James’s determination in providing for his family. Life was not kind, and at the age of four, Montrue lost her mother due to complications of childbirth. James worked hard to support his motherless family. He worked on the railroad, did odd jobs, and eventually became custodian of the local school. His family did not have much, but they did not do without the essentials. Again, life took a tragic turn when James succumbed to brain cancer when Montrue was 13 years old. The generosity of her family was abundant in providing for her care, and she would graduate from Corona High School. Eventually, she would marry and become the proud mother of five children: Zane, Brenda, Wayne, Duane, and Nelda. When the skies failed to produce rain and the ground would not produce crops, the family was forced to sale their ranch and move to Santa Fe, NM. Montrue become a telephone operator for the next 30 years. Upon retirement, she moved to Longview, Texas where she made her home in 1993. She was a faithful servant of the Lord at Mobberly Baptist Church. On March 23, 2018, with His loving arms wrapped around our precious Mother, Jesus turned to the Heavenly crowd and said, “This is my child, Montrue Marable, in whom I am well pleased.”
