Monnie Buton Scott's Obituary
Services for Monnie Burton Scott, 92, will be held at 10 am Tuesday, February 22 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview with Pastor Rita Sims officiating. Burial will be at 2 pm at the Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup, Texas. The family visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Monday at the funeral Home.
Mrs. Scott was born July 20, 1918 at Price Rusk County, Texas to Richard J. and Louisa Elizabeth Burton. She graduated from Carlisle High School and attended Business School at Federal Institute, Tyler. She was a bookkeeper for many years in Dallas. Mrs. Scott married Marvin Scott in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1989.
Mrs. Scott was a member of Winterfield Methodist Church of Longview. She was also a member of Senior Circle and enjoyed meeting with friends to play games.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Allen, Robert and Ronzie Burton; sisters Ottie Lois Burton, Ermye Siler, Juliaette Marsh and Gladys Newton; nephew Howard Marsh.
Survivors include nieces Varena and Edmund Hegar of Troup and Elizabeth and Noble Midkiff of Longview; a nephew Richard and Madge Burton of Jacksonville; a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews; special friends Jess and Judy Ingram of Longview.
