Mollie Wayne Whitehurst's Obituary
MOLLIE WAYNE WHITEHURST
A beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 6, 2009 after a lengthy illness.
Mollie Wayne Whitehurst was born March 16, 1925 in Hallsville, Texas to Bronson and Lottie LaGrone Schaffer, she married H. Falvey Whitehurst June 1, 1946. They were married 41 years at the time of his death in 1987. In addition to Hallsville and Longview, she resided in Oklahoma City and Liberia, Africa while on an industrial missionary tour.
She was a homemaker and reared three children while teaching Sunday School, attending sporting events and concerts involving her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Bobby Schaffer and two sisters, Mildred Schaffer and Betty Presley.
She is survived by two sisters, Willie Huckabee of Haughton, Louisiana and Audrey Lee of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughter Linda Whitehurst of Frisco, Texas; son Roland and wife Suzanne of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son Dan and wife Norma of Longview; grandchildren Natalie Owens of Broken Arrow Oklahoma, Jared Whitehurst of Dallas, Drew and Brooks Whitehurst of Longview; great-grandchildren Avery and Dane Owens of Broken Arrow, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home, Thursday from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be Friday, at 2pm in the Ford Chapel of First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Dewayne Beaty and Rev. David English. Burial will follow in Summerfield Cemetery.
The family thanks caregivers Daisy Cox, Geneva Johnson, Joann Tyson and the staff of Beacon Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House.
