Mollie Humphrey Edmonds' Obituary
Funeral services for Mollie Humphrey Edmonds , 86, of Longview will be 2 PM Thursday, November 16th at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Slayton officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Park. Mollie died Monday, November 13th after a brief illness.
She was born February 8, 1920 at Bagwell, Texas to Charlie and Roxie Rhodes McCoy. Mollie had been a resident of Longview since 1951 where she owned Mollie?s Barber Shop on East Marshall Ave. in Longview where she worked for 55 years and up until September of this year.
Mollie was featured in numerous magazine articles and was showcased on Joan Hallmark?s ?Proud of East Texas? TV show and on Channel 8 television news in Dallas as the first woman in Texas to receive a barber?s license.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; brother Worth McCoy; sister, Janie Davis; son, Buddy Humphrey and grandson, Rocky Holder.
Mollie is survived by her loving family: a son Bobby Humphrey and wife, Marilyn, of Longview; daughters, Barbara Wilson and husband, Jim, of Lindale, Judi and husband Dean Reigel of Austin, and Melinda Carlock of Longview; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild, and many, many good friends.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Wednesday evening 6 to 8 PM.
