Mittie Ann Perry
Born September 10, 1931 to Emmett G. and Julia Brooks Belote in Jefferson, Marion County ,Texas. She went to be with her Lord Jesus on January 25, 2025 in Marshall. Mittie Ann grew up in Cass and Marion Counties. Attended primary school at Kildare.
She attended school in Jefferson until they moved to Tatum. Mittie Ann became involved in many sports and activities her senior year. After her graduation, she worked in Marshall and Dallas.
In 1956, she married Wayne Perry. They had two daughters, Mary Frances (Fran) and Cathy Ann. They built a house at Elderville, where they lived until 2014. Mittie Ann worked in several clerical positions, but her primary job was for Longview Savings and Loan. She made many friends whom she kept in touch with until the time of her death. Wayne and Mittie Ann were members of Wesley Methodist Church from the time of their marriage until the church disbanded. She taught Sunday School for most of those years also. She sang in the choir and headed up Jolly Elders for many years. One of her final service activities was delivering Meals on Wheels. She had a servant’s heart.
Mittie Ann lived 8 years in Arabella Independent and Assisted Living, making many friends there. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Farkle with her friends.
Mittie Ann was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Wayne Perry and sister, Tommie Jo Young.
Survived by daughter Fran Steitler (Charlie Steitler) of Lyons, NY. Daughter Cathy Luckert (David Luckert) of Hallsville, TX. Four grandchildren: Charles W. Steitler (Esther) Wiesbaden Germany, Chelye Ann Steitler Bella Vista, Arkansas. Benjamin Luckert (Mandy)Hudson Oaks, TX. Danae Hawthorne (Griffin) White Oak, TX. Eight great grandchildren. sister, Emilie Jane Thane, White Oak, brother Emmett Belote,(Gudrun)Nashville. Sister in law Geniece Perry and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers:
David Perry, Mark Perry, Michael Perry, Stan Smith, Scott Burton, Clay Burton and Kevin Belote.
In leu of flowers, donations may be made to Highway 80 Rescue Center or East Texas Hospice, Tyler, Texas in memory of Mittie Ann.
Services will be held on Friday January 31, 2025. Visitation at 1:00 and service following at 2:00. Mittie Ann will be buried at Strong Cemetery in Rusk County. In leu of flowers donations may be made to Highway 80 Rescue Mission or East Texas Hospice of Tyler.
