Miriam Ann Capps' Obituary
Miriam Ann Capps was born at home in the Pleasant Hill Community June 25, 1933. She passed from this life to her eternal home on February 4, 2009. She was a lifelong, faithful member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Capps was a former member of the Henderson Art League winning several awards for her landscape paintings. She also loved to sing and began her music career in the church choir. Later, she was offered a contract with Capitol Records, which she turned down due to family devotion. During this time, she released several records that were well received. Throughout her life, she touched many people through music whether in the church choir or performing in benefits for various causes. Although she loved performing, the greatest loves of her life were her Heavenly Father and her family. She taught by example illustrating the importance of having faith in God and nurturing a loving family.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Overton, Texas with Reverend Dean Grigsby officiating assisted by Reverend Pete Thompson. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson. Visitation will be held Friday, February 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rader Funeral Home in Henderson, Texas. Pallbearers include Tim Capps, Mike Lunsford, Gary Redding, Newborn Redding, Jr., Gay Taylor, and Douglas York,
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Douglas and Florine McClelland Richardson. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 58 years, Earl Capps; her son Billy Capps and wife Sharon of Henderson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Mike Bryan of Henderson, and Jeri and Jon Marc Coke of Bullard; three grandchildren, Seth Capps and wife Joanne of Carthage, Grey Bryan of Henderson, and Kellen Coke of Bullard;sister, Betty McCoy of Beaumont; step-grandchildren, Bret Mitchell of Fairfield and Joshua Smithers of Fair Play; half-sister, Connie Sue Richardson.
