Mildred Marie Blalock Furman
Services for Mildred Marie Blalock Furman, of Longview will be 2 PM Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Winterfield united Methodist Church, 2616 Tryon Rd., with the Revs. Ed Barlow and Gene Steger officiating. Burial will follow at the Winterfield Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral of Longview. Mrs. Furman died Sunday, May 12th at a local hospital following a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Fred Furman; Ron and Bennie Brown of Longview; grandchildren, Kevin Brown of Cordova, Tn., and Karen Brown of Longview; nephew, Don Blalock of Whitehouse; sisters-in-law, Ruth Aldredge, Connie Steele and Daisy Moring, all of Longview. Preceding her in death were her parents, Jack and Ethel Richardson Blalock; and brother, J. E. Blalock. Mrs. Furman was born June 16, 1919 in Longview. Her parents, pioneer families of Gregg County, were among some of the Earliest members of Winterfield United Methodist Church, where she was a lifetime member. Along with her family and friends, her church was important to her, and she loved to talk about it. She was also a member of the First Graduation Class of Judson High School. Mrs. Furman was a Homemaker and had worked at Perkins Department Store; Mother?s Day Out at the First Christian Church, Longview; and Mother?s Day Out at Winterfield United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Kevin Brown, Ron Brown, Worth Jackson, Don Blalock, Ben Reynolds and Tracy Lamb. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Winmore Sunday School Class of Winterfield United Methodist Church. She and her husband were among the first members of this class.
