Milburn Don Johnson was born February 15, 1936 to Lillian and Milburn Johnson and joined them in Heaven on February 21, 2014. He leaves a large family to cherish his memory.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, his sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Bill Ming, his daughter and son-in-law Donna and Gary Allen, daughter Janay Anderson, son and daughter-in-law Buddy and Trinity Johnson, niece Tammy and husband Danny Johns, nephew Clint Ming, step-son Michael and wife Dara Cornett, and Barbara and Dexter Parker.
Don was blessed with the following grandchildren: Jeremy Allen, Jordan Allen, Marie Shoemaker, Shawn Blalack, Sandi Kirksey, T.C. Lancaster, David Johnson, Jack Cornett and great niece Casie Johns. His great-grandchildren are Zoey Rumsey, Christopher Allen, Remington, Colt, and Daisy Blalack, Mason Kirksey, and Parker and Norah Lancaster.
Don was a cowboy in heart and by profession working on many ranches over the years from South Dakota to Texas. He also spent many years as a truck driver and an oil field worker. He was a hard worker, but was most happy outside around cattle, horses and other animals. He loved a good joke, playing pool and being around family where he often reminisced about favorite events that still made him laugh until he cried. One favorite joke was that his kids had numbered his stories. They had heard them so often that they could call out a number and enjoy the joke without a word being spoken.
He was a good man, a private man with a love of the outdoors and the past. He was a cowboy who was born a hundred years too late and a husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who died a hundred years too soon. We loved him and will miss him, but we rest in the assurance that we will see him again.
Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview; Interment will follow services at 2 pm that day at Lawrence Cemetery, Dawson, TX.
