Michael "Mike" Odell Boles' Obituary
Michael Odell Boles, 80, transitioned to his eternal home on March 15, 2025, after a lengthy illness. Mike was born on February 9, 1945 to Odell and Ruth Boles in Gilmer, Texas. His family moved to Electra, TX when Mike was in the 8th grade. It was there that he made lifelong friends and met the love of his life, Gloria Rae Rice. Mike and Gloria married on September 14, 1962 in Electra.
Mike and Gloria moved to East Texas with their young family so Mike could begin his career with National Cash Register Company(NCR). In 1978, he branched out on his own and opened Longview Cash Register. In 1980, after forming a partnership with 2 friends from his NCR days, Mike opened Texas Cash Register of Longview. He and his family ran the business until they bought out both partners in 2010. His sons, Daryl and Micky, joined their father in the daily operations of Texas Cash Register until Mike’s health forced him to retire in 2024.
When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing at area lakes. After his grandsons were old enough, he loved to take them fishing with him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Ruth Boles, and one brother, William Boles.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Gloria, 3 sons, Micky and his partner, Jeff White, Daryl and his wife, Sharon and Glen and his husband, Toni. Three grandsons, Jacob Boles and fiancé, Angie, Matthew Boles and fiancé, Madalyn, and Harris Hall.
