Michael "Dumplin" Hanes' Obituary
Michael Edd "Dumplin" Hanes went to his heavenly home on December 31, 2023, with his parents by his side. Michael was born on February 26, 1960, in Longview, TX to Elsie Ruth Smith. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth Dickard and Delvin Fat Smith. He is survived by his parents, Elsie and Jim Smith, his uncle Bill Smith, and one daughter.
Michael worked as a millwright for Brown & Root and Flourdaniels, and later with his dad, Jim, as a television cable groundsman. He enjoyed shooting pool, tool leathering, and most of all, being the chairperson for Fellowship of Narcotics Anonymous, and organization which helps newcomers, and which he was a member for more than ten years.
Elsie and Jim wish to thank the ICU staff on the fourth floor of Longview Regional Medical Center for their loving care of Michael during his last days, including Anne, Celeste, Jody, and many more.

Graveside services for Michael will be held at Noonday Cemetery on Saturday, January 6 at 10am.
Lord, support us all the day long of this troublous life, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed and our work is done. Then, of thy great mercy grant us a safe lodging, and holy rest, and peace at the last, through Jesus Christ. Amen
