Funeral Services for Gene Singleton, 51, of Diana will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 24, 2001 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, 1617 Judson Road, with Leonard Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. Mr. Singleton served his country in Vietnam, for his faithful service he will receive full military honors presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10373, Jefferson, Texas.
Mr. Singleton was born on April 20, 1950, in Morton, Texas to Dave and Goldie Singleton. He passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 in a Longview Hospital after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.
He was retired for 9 years, after working as a engineer technician, and materials manager for Oryx Engineering Co. in Dallas.
A loving, husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Mr. Singleton was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Sherry Ray Bracken, Betty Jo Dawson, Peggy Jones, and nephew, Michael Shane Singleton. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheron Singleton of Diana, daughters and son-in-law, Sheri and Shane Battles of Longview, Shonna Singleton of Diana, grandchildren, Taylor Jay of Diana, Cody Fregia of Diana, Lauren Battles of Longview, brothers and sisters-in-law, Max and Sharon Singleton of Longview, Earnest Singleton of Seminole, Texas, David and Gayle Singleton of Artesia, New Mexico, sisters, Alta Studdard of Morton, Texas, Patsy and Bill Lewis of Spring, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 Friday evening, November 23, at the funeral home and requests memorials be made to: American Cancer Society, Gregg North Unit, P.O. BOX 906, Longview, Texas 75606.
