Michael Edward Akins, Sr's Obituary
Graveside services for Michael Edward Akins Sr., age 52 of Beckville, will be held Monday October 12, 2009 at 2:00pm at the Jumbo Cemetery with the Rev. Leymoin Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of the Rader Funeral Home in Henderson.
Mr. Akins died at his residence Thursday October 8, 2009
Michael was the first born son to Edward & Mary Akins, he was born September 18, 1957 in Rusk County. He, along with his two younger brothers Roy & Kelly, grew up in the Henderson area where they all shared a love of drag racing.Through out the years, he continued to be fascinated by mechanics and enjoyed fixing up cars. He was happiest when and his family were at the race track. Michael was a mechanic and a member of the Tyler Road Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward and brother Kelly.
He is survived by his son Michael Akins Jr. of Beckville; daughters Heather Akins of Beckville, Karen Tully & son-in-law Marshall Tully; grandson Reagan Tully and granddaughter Kadence Tully all of Henderson. He is also survived by his mother Mary Akins Rogers, and brother Roy Akins both of Beckville, also nephew Joshua Akins of Hallsville, several aunts & uncles.
Pallbearers will be Lynn McGlaun, Eugene Harkness, Joshua Akins, Marshall Tully, John Rogers, and Collins Tully.
The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 2~4pm Sunday.
