Michael D. Turner's Obituary
Michael D. Turner, 58, of Hallsville, Texas joined his heavenly Father on January 26, 2012 in Dhahram, Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Turner was born July 13, 1953, in Longview, Texas to Leonard C. and Farris Turner. Mike attended Longview High School where he began a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry. Mike served in several overseas operations including Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. His dedication to the well-being of his colleagues and co-workers earned him the reputation of being a man of honor and integrity. Mike was highly respected and considered a tremendous asset by the organizations and companies with whom he served.
Mike enjoyed sports especially fishing, golf, basketball and playing pool. He will be lovingly remembered by friends and family for his passionate love of life. Mike devoted much of his time and energy to the generous care of his wife, family and many friends. The loss of his kindness, enthusiasm and sense of humor will leave a void in the hearts and lives of those he touched.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gaynelle. Mike and Gaynelle enjoyed life and love together for 28 wonderful years both here and abroad. He is also survived by his children, Michael D. Turner, Jr., Stephen M. Turner and wife, Dawne, Destry Holcomb and wife, Christy, Shanda Clay and husband, Kyle, Staci Holcomb; grandchildren, Brody and Cole Turner, Riley, Haley, and Raeley Holcomb, Jackson and Hudson Clay, Ronnie and Anthony Harber, Morgan Holcomb and his great-granddaughter, Demi Harber. Mike is also survived by his siblings Gary Turner, Larry Turner and wife, Alice; his stepfather, Floyd McClelland; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, 1617 Judson Road, with Pastor Ralph Rudy officiating. A reception will follow at the Holiday Inn Express, 300 Tuttle Circle, Longview, Texas.
