Melvin F. ?Mel? Gabler
Funeral services for Melvin F. ?Mel? Gabler, 89, of Longview,
will be 2 PM Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at Mobberly Baptist Church, 625 East Loop 281with Dr. Gregg Zackary officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the funeral home, 1617 Judson Road.
Mr. Gabler died Sunday afternoon at Mother Francis Hospital in
Tyler.
Mel was born January 5, 1915 in Houston, TX to Otto and Matilda Gabler.
He had retired from Exxon after 39 years of service and was co-founder with his wife of 62 years, Norma, and President of Educational Research Analyst, a non-profit organization. Mel served his country in the U. S. Army Air Force as staff sergeant and was a member of the Mobberly Baptist Church.
Mr. Gabler was preceded in death by a son, Don Allen Gabler; and brothers, Milton and Norman Gabler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Elizabeth Gabler; sons,
James Melvin Gabler of Phoenix, AZ and Paul Richard Gabler of Houston.
He is also survived by a brother, Harold W. Gabler of Belen, NM.; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
