Meliza Tanuyan's Obituary
A Family Directed Memorial Service for Meliza Tanuyan will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Longview at 6PM with Pastor Bob Gray II officiating. Mrs. Tanuyan went to be with the Lord Saturday morning, February 5, 2022.
Meliza was born July 9, 1940, to Marcelo and Marina del Pilar in the Philippines. She obtained a bachelor’s in journalism and served as a journalist for the Manila Daily Panorama Magazine in the Philippines for 10 years before immigrating to the United States of America. She met her late husband, Benjamin Tanuyan, in California where they created a life together as real estate investors. Ben and Mel uprooted to Longview, TX in 1992. Mel was actively involved in her church, Emmanuel Baptist Church of Longview (formerly Longview Baptist Temple), she took a yearlong mission trip to the Philippines to bring souls to the Lord, she loved to crochet blankets, scarfs, and dresses, and loved the Lord with all of her heart. Her favorite bible verse is Ephesians 2:8-10.
Meliza is preceded in death by her parents, Marcelo and Marina del Pilar, brothers Michael and Melchor, sister Mila, and husband, Benjamin Tanuyan. Those left to cherish her memories include her sons, George and Jonathan Tanuyan, daughter-in-law, Tiffany Tanuyan, granddaughter, Emily Grace Tanuyan, her step children, Maria Victoria, Cleo, and Emmanuel Tanuyan, Emmanuel’s wife Paula, and their children Aundria, Ivan, Clarissa, Madison, Levi, and Kimberly Tanuyan along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the mission’s fund at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Longview 2200 West Loop 281, Longview, TX 75604 in Meliza’s honor.
Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
