Melba Mae Fain Callender
Melba Mae Fain Callender of Haynesville, LA passed away Wednesday evening, February 20, at Longview Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was 83 years of age.
She was born February 14, 1925, in Summerfield, LA, to Harry D. and Minnie L. Fain. She married the late D. H. Callender, Jr., of Haynesville in 1956. They were married until his death in 2002. She worked for thirty-five years as secretary and office manager for the Ohio later Marathon Oil Company in Haynesville. She was a longtime and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Haynesville.
After the death of her husband, she moved to Longview to be near family. She resided at Buckner Westminster Place for the last five years of her life, which were made happier by the many new friends she made over these years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and a sister. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Susanne Callender of Longview; by three beloved grandchildren, Douglas, Mary, and Anna Callender of Longview; and by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for her Longview friends and family will be held at Rader Funeral Home Chapel of Longview at 4 p.m. Friday, February 22, with family visitation to follow until 6 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville, LA, at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 23.
