Melba G. Roberts' Obituary
Roberts, Melba G., 89, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010, in Wichita, KS. She was born on August 25, 1920, in Rhonesboro, TX, to Esther James and A.D. "Duke" McWhorter. She married Curtis W. Roberts on November 24, 1939. Living most of her life in Longview, TX. She worked as a bookkeeper at Perkins Bros. and retired after almost 20 years at Trailmobile, Inc. Then she enjoyed being a seamstress. She was a longtime active member of Longview Missionary Baptist Church, and then attended Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Wichita, KS. for a few years after moving there in May, 1992. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Rozelle Killingsworth, and brothers, Bob, Morris "Preacher", Jack, A.D. and Johnny McWhorter. She is survived by her brothers, Jimmy and Morgan Ann McWhorter both of Longview, daughter, Patsy Darryl Kutz of Wichita, KS.; granddaughter, Cheryl Bruce Virgil of Austin, TX.; grandson Robert Courtney Richmond of Humble, TX.; great grandchildren Kristyna and Kira Virgil and Jacob, Jaden and Renae Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is Friday, April 16, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the funeral service is 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010 both at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Longview, TX. 75606. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 301 N. Main, Ste 300, Wichita, KS 67202 or to the Alzheimer's Assn, 347 Laura St., Wichita, KS 67211.
