May Bell Owens' Obituary
Funeral services for May Bell Owens, 96, of Concord Community, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Skip Stutts and Duane Dougherty officiating. Burial will follow at the Concord Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home Mrs. Owens died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at her residence. She was born May 2, 1916 in the Concord Community, Cherokee County, to William and Mattie Glass Johnston. She was a member of the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a homemaker, and a life long resident of the Concord Community. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband of 33 years John Owens; brother, Clifton Johnston and a sister Bessie Galloway. Surviving is her son, John Owens, Jr. and wife Dee of the Concord Community; daughter, Deborah Gary and husband John Ray of the Concord Community; grandsons, Josh Owens and Andrew Owens of the Concord Community, and Brannon Gary of Palo Alto, CA. ; great granddaughters, Izzy Owens, Sophia Owens and Karrigan Owens all of the Concord Community. Pallbearers will be Josh Owens, Andrew Owens, Harold Hawkins, Justin Hold, Gailon Johnston and Tony Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Childress, James Galloway , Brannon Gary and Gayle Lyn Parsons. Special thanks to Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Womens Sunday School Class, Jean Martin, Fay Marshall and her care giver Angela Lacy.
