Max Eugene Barnes' Obituary
Max Eugene Barnes, 73, of Longview Texas passed away at home on Monday, March 5, 2018. Max was born on January 15, 1945 in Sherman Texas to the late Charles Aubrey and Mary Lita Barnes. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joan Welch and brother, Wayne Barnes.
On February 19, 1978, Max married Matilda L. (Wiesje) Loth. She survives with daughter, Tanya (Charles) Blundell of Longview Texas and step-daughter, Lisa (Virgil) Swann of Elkhart Indiana. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Garrett Kavas, Lindsey (Andrew) Seitz, Lauren (Ben) Aikins, Dalton Swann, Tanner Jerles, Hudson Blundell and Griffin Blundell; and 4 great grandchildren.
Max graduated in 1964 from Monterey High School in Lubbock Texas and served four years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He held many titles while working in the tire industry and retired as a store manager after 30 years. Max enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and had an interest in estate/garage sales, Corvettes and motorcycles. He mostly enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family and his pet dog, Izzy.
Visitation will be Friday, March 9th, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road, Longview Texas. A memorial service will take place at the funeral home Saturday, March 10th, at 12:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Rosewood Park, 1884 Farm to Market Rd 1844, Longview Texas.
