Maureen M. Hopkins' Obituary
Services for Maureen M. Hopkins, 86, of Austin, formerly of Longview, will be 12 Noon Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Lundberg officiating. Ms. Hopkins died Monday, February 28, in an Austin nursing facility. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Ms. Hopkins was born on June 27, 1918, in Laneville, TX, to John Edward and Mary Frances Moore. After High School she attended Kilgore College. She then received a Bachelors Degree from Stephen F. Austin, and a Masters Degree from the University of Houston. She taught school in Texas City, TX. for 11 years. She was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church in Texas City, and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star in Texas City. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Jarrell R. Hop Hopkins, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Harriett Hogle of Austin; son Mark Hopkins of Friendswood; grandchildren J.J. Hopkins and his wife Karen, Karen Sobczak and her husband Rob, Katherine Hogle, Tony Hopkins and his wife Sheri, and Paul Hopkins and his wife Tracy; 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
