Maudie Alta Brown's Obituary
Funeral services for Maudie Alta Brown, 76, of Longview, will be 12 Noon Friday, February 20, 2004 at Oakland Heights Baptist Church with Reverend Tom Roberson and David Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Trout Creek Cemetery at Call, TX near Kirbyville, at 4 PM.
Mrs. Brown died Tuesday evening, February 17, 2004 at a local nursing facility.
Maudie was born May 25, 1927 in Call, Texas to Stedman and Laura Young. She finished nurses training at Confederate Memorial in Shreveport, LA in 1948 and later worked at Gregg Memorial Hospital, which was changed to Good Shepherd Hospital, from 1950 until retiring in December 1977.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Stedman Samuel Young and Laura Walters Young and a sister, Christine Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Lester H. Brown; two daughters, Susan Kim Brown and Patricia Beth Bernethy and husband, John Bernethy ; two grandchildren, Joshua and Randall Bernethy; sisters, Violet Smith of Kirbyville, Wayne and husband, Clinton Peppo of Beaumont, Kathleen Prewitt of Call, Texas and brother, S. A. Young and wife Jean of Lufkin, TX and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Elevator Fund at Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
