Mattie Ruth Wilson's Obituary
Services for Mattie Ruth Wilson, 85, of Longview will be 10 AM Monday, February 7, 2005 in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Clayton and Rev. Ronnie Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. Mrs. Wilson passed away Friday morning in Longview. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 PM at Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mrs. Wilson was born September 15, 1919, in Rockland, Texas to Bryant and Nannie Cope. She was married to Raymond Wade Wilson on July 2, 1943, and had been a resident of Longview for the past 7 years, moving from Normangee where she had resided for 16 years. She had been a resident of Port Neches, Texas for 25 years.
Mrs. Wilson was a retired manager of Western Auto in Port Neches, and had also owned and operated a restaurant there. She was very active in the Historical Society and loved to knit and quilt. She loved to cook and won lots of cooking contests, and was even featured in an issue of Southern Living. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Longview and the Faith Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 61 years, Raymond Wade Wilson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Wade Armstrong Wilson of Austin, Charlene Ray Wilson Poole and her husband Duane, of Fort Worth, Georgia Ann Wilson McCoy and her husband, Steve, of Seattle, WA, Laura Wilson Boone and her husband Gary of Longview, and John Edward Wilson and his wife Linda, of Seabrook, TX; sister, Doris Krebs and her husband Elmer; and nephew Jimmie Suggs and wife Pat, all of Vidor, TX.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
