Matthew Park Walling's Obituary
Matthew Park Walling age 37 passed away in the early hours of June 25, 2024, after a battle with cancer. Matt was born July 10,1986 in Seoul South Korea. He is survived by his dad Sonny Walling, brothers Jeff Walling (wife Lorie), Josh Walling (wife Amanda), and sister Tasha Sims (husband Chris). Nieces & Nephews include Laura Walling, Cheyenne Walling, Dalton Walling, Rae-Lynn Sims, and great nephew Branson Dobbs. Along with several uncles, aunt, cousins, and countless friends. He is proceeded in death by his mother Trudy Walling, grandparents Daisy Walling, Webb & Marie Vanover.
Matt, a life-long Cowboys fan (even when they didn’t deserve his affection) was a graduate of Carthage High School and worked as an Assistant Manager for Woodforest National Bank in Longview TX.
Matt’s superpower was his positive outlook on life and making everyone around him feel like they were the most special person in the room. He was known for his ability to bring people together and make sure that everyone felt included and loved. Matt showed up, offered encouragement and support for all of those he loved. He expressed his love by giving away the most precious asset he had to give-his time. Even in his sickness, his concern was always on how his family and friends were doing, and on how they felt about his diagnosis. The legacy that he leaves behind will be one of kindness, encouragement, inspiration, humility, and love for all of those who were blessed to encounter him.
A service celebrating Matt’s life and legacy of love will be held at Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Saturday July 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00.
