Mary Walker Edwards' Obituary
Mary Walker Edwards passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, in Longview, Texas surrounded by family. She was born May 9, 1940, and graduated from Avinger High School in 1958. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Mr. Pleasant, Texas, and was one of the top realtors in Mt. Pleasant for more than 40 years. Mary had a gift of being able to relate to any one she met and somehow made every one feel special. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and took great joy in relating funny stories about the children in the family and was a very giving person to those in need around her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Carrie Mae Walker and a sister, Carole Dodson. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Krystal Carter of Mt. Pleasant and Connie Carter of Leesburg, sister, Beverly Drew and husband Gary of Longview, brother, Tommy Walker and wife Nancy of Avinger, 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Rangu, Dr. Leatherman and Dr. Sadler for the excellent medical care each gave Mary for many years, as well as being her friend. A special thanks goes also to the staff of Good Shepherd Medical Center and Texas Hospice who were a blessing as they ministered not only to Mary but to the whole family.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Mr. Pleasant at 4 PM on Saturday, March 17, 2012.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations in her memory be made to the Safe-T Crisis Center in Mr. Pleasant or to the Avinger Class of 1958 Scholarship Fund at the First State Bank in Avinger.
