Mary "Betty" Starkey's Obituary
Mary “Betty” Elizabeth Starkey was born April 14, 1927, in Waldo, Arkansas and passed on Oct 24, 2024, of a heart attack in Kilgore, Tx. There will be a graveside service at Overton Cemetery on November 8th at 10 a.m.
Betty was raised on a farm in Waldo, Arkansas with her parents and her brother Bud Adai and sister Leeota Adair. She graduated from Waldo High School. From there she headed to New Orleans to attend nursing school at Touro Nursing. After graduating she began her long and prolific career as an RN. During this time, she began her little family after meeting her husband David Starkey in New Orleans soon after having their two daughters Suzie and Patricia. From there they became a well-wandered family living in Chicago, Wyoming, and Houston. Till her and David settled in their forever home in Overton, TX in 1978. Where Betty worked at the Overton Nursing home until she retired at 89. When she wasn’t working, she was inventing and drawing up schematics and ideas. She held a deep love of nature and animals, especially dogs. She had a wicked sense of humor, and a diet Pepsi was never far from her hand.
Betty is predeceased in death by her husband David, her daughter Suzie Anz, brother Bud and sister Leeota.
Betty is survived by her daughter Patricia Kremin, her grandchildren Amanda Harral, Sandra Anz, Elizabeth Hearon, Catherine Moffet, Zane Krempin and Amy Griffen; her great grandchildren Sarah Harral and her daughters Emily Harral, Katie Harral and Addison Harral. Caroline with a little one on the way. Adam Hearon with his two daughters Madelyn Hearon with her daughter Lily Hearon. Sam and Jack Anz, Olivia Moffet, Brock Moffet, Sadie Moffet and Sophia Moffet. Patrick Krempin, Brooke Krempin, Zander Krempin, and Zaden Krempin. Courtney Griffin and Megan Griffin and two beloved teddy bears.
