Mary Stafford Dunbar
Mary Stafford Dunbar , 85, surviving spouse of J.R. Dunbar, died Monday, November 16th at a local hospital. Mary was born September 26, 1924 in Bixby, Oklahoma to Harold M. and Pearl Owen Stafford.
Mary moved to East Texas at an early age. She met and married J.R. Dunbar, a member of a well-known pioneering family. Mary was a homemaker, a charter member of the Oakland Heights Baptist Church, and a member of the Thursday Bible Club.
Mary was known for her devotion and unconditional love for not only her family but to every life she touched. She was often described as a foot soldier of God who lived her life completely for the sake of others. Mary saw the best in everyone with true acceptance without judgment. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and those blessed to have known her.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and husband, Sandra and Stan Miller of Wimberley, Texas; son, James Ronald Dunbar of Longview; daughter, Kathy Lynn Jester of Longview; grandchildren: Billy Harold Allen, Jeremiah Christopher Sheehan, Dustin Matthew Mobbs, Ashley Nicole Driskell, Natalie Renea Dunbar, and Lauren Lynn Jester. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Jeremy Ryan Allen, Harold Craig Allen, Summer Rain Sheehan, Jeremiah Sky Sheehan, Scarlett Starr Sheehan, Sierra Jade Sheehan, Zoe Jester, Heidi Jester, Austin jester, and Colton Jester.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions to the Library or Scholarship Fund at Oakland Heights Baptist Church, 1600 Judson Rd., Longview, TX 75601.
Graveside services will be held 3 pm Wednesday at the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel with James Ray Humphries officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
