Mary Ruthe Lee's Obituary
A graveside service for Mary Ruthe Lee, 91, of Longview will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, June 9, 2008 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview with Reverend David Farmer officiating. Ms. Lee passed away Friday morning in a local nursing home. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4-6 PM.
Mary was born on October 8, 1916 in Wylie, Texas to Bob and Alvona Bowman. She was raised in McKinney and graduated from McKinney High School in 1932. She attended Henderson State College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas when she met the love of her life, "Choo Choo Lee". They were married in 1938. She worked as a secretary for Pine Tree High School from 1963-1967. Ms. Lee was also the manager for Villa Del Lago Apartments in Shreveport from 1968-1988. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved life, her family and friends and loved playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.P. "Choo Choo" Lee.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Mary Jane English and her husband Gary of Longview, and James Lee of Linden; grandchildren and their spouses, Lynn and Kristi English of Paris, Texas, Rusty and Mary Ann English of Paris, Texas, Jana and Chris Taylor of Longview; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Zayne English of Paris, Ryanna and Sadi English of Paris, and Devin Taylor of Longview.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the nurses, aids, administrators and therapists at Pine Tree Lodge for their many wonderful years of care and attention.
