Mary Frances LaForge Rosette's Obituary
A celebration of the life of Mary Frances LaForge Rosette will be 11am Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview with the Bro. John Wallingford officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the mausoleum at Memory Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
Frances was born December 2, 1930 at the LaForge home place in North Harrison County to Cecil LaForge and Mary Annette Quillin LaForge and went to be with her Lord on May 17, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Rosette in 2004, her father in 1968 and her mother in 2007.
Frances graduated as valedictorian from Hallsville High School in 1948. She pursued a Bachelor of Science degree at Stephen F. Austin University. She was on the dean’s list and a member of Alpha Chi fraternity.
She was a Christian and a Baptist since the age of 13, and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church since 1978. For many years she taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, and sang in the church choir. She worked as secretary for the Missouri Pacific System Federation, retiring in 1991 after 34 years of service.
She was a longtime member of the American Business Women’s Association serving as president, vice president, publicity, membership, ways & means of Golden Light chapter. She organized a new Guiding Light ABWA chapter. She was a member of Gregg County Home Extension Association for 20 years serving as president and vice president, several terms as well as secretary treasurer, publicity chairman and as council county chairman one year. Judging 4-H children in Harvest Festival, food shows and clothing was her delight. She was also president of Texas Eastman Women’s club. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, fishing, camping, and traveling.
Left to cherish her memory are son Wayne Rosette and his wife Norma of Florida; daughter Gail Burks and her husband Vernon of Longview; sister Catherine Strong of College Station; grandchildren: Laura Reynolds (Jonathon) of Nacogdoches; Jared Rosette of Cleburne; Lisa Rosette (fiancé Brett Tomlinson) of Ft. Worth; Angela (Robbie) Bradley of Hallsville; Candy (Marty) Qualls of Hallsville; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm Friday, May 20, 2016 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Gideons International or the Building Fund at Macedonia Baptist Church.
