Mary Frances Mitchell's Obituary
Mary Frances (Pollock) Mitchell passed away peacefully on June 16, 2018, in Longview, Tx. at the age of 92. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 19 with visitation at 10:00 am and the service following at 11:00 am at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel on Judson Road in Longview, Tx.
She was born June 11, 1926 in Clarksville, Tx. to Rachel and James Pollock. She married T.W. Mitchell in November 1945. She spent the next 70 years in Mineola, Tx. raising her 5 children. In August of 2015, she moved to Longview to be closer to family.
She was known as “Nanny” to all of her family She dedicated her life to others in making sure that they were taken care of and had something to eat. She never complained and was such a positive, loving and strong-willed person.
She was a lifelong “railroad wife”. She used to laugh and say, “It would scare her to stop and count all of the sandwiches she made and took to the train station.” She could stand at the kitchen window and tell you which direction the train was coming from and which train it was just by the sound of the whistle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sons Roger Mitchell, Mike Mitchell and daughter Judy Mitchell Furrh. Also, a great granddaughter Grace Ann Turner. Along with her 3 sisters and 1 brother.
She is survived by her brother Johnnie Ray Pollock of Houston, daughters Mary Mitchell Turner of Longview and Sue Mitchell of Mineola. Grandsons Wade Turner, Jason Turner, Jeff Furrh, Blake Furrh, Kenny Mitchell, David Mitchell, and Dewayne Mitchell. Granddaughters Jennifer Mize, Kim Reneau, Morgan Mullin, and Hanna Mitchell. As well as 15 great grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Trinity Timbers Assisted Living and Traditions Hospice for their loving care.
Burial will be held the afternoon of June 19 at Turner Cemetery in Redland, Tx. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Turner Cemetery Association P.O. Box 368, Mineola, Texas, 75773.
