Mary Laverne McDaniel
Mary Laverne McDaniel, 89, of Longview passed away March 21, 2017, in Longview.  A Celebration of Laverne’s life will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview Friday, March 24, at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Brother Norman Crisp.  Graveside services will follow in Daingerfield Cemetery.
Laverne was born August 20, 1927, in Carnie Nibblet, Cass County, Texas to Charlie and Janie Searcy, who preceded her in death.  She is also preceded in death by the love of her life James “Red” McDaniel; brothers, T.G., Leon and Bud Searcy; sister, Lillie Mae Bray; and son-in-law, Mark Whitaker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathy Tittle of Longview and Deb Whitaker of Dallas; grandchildren, Christopher Tittle and wife Christi of Longview, Kyle Tittle and wife Emily of Austin; great grandchildren, Tanner, Tucker and Trista Tittle; special fur babies, Sadie, Spike and Sunny; sisters, Jane Pope of Josephine, Pat Brabham of Austin, Margie Abernathy of Longview; brothers, Gary Searcy and Larry Searcy of Diana; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Laverne was a homemaker and entrepreneur. At one time she owned and operated a small grocery store in Daingerfield.  When she moved to Colonial Village in Longview she established a small country store in the facility for the residents.  She is best known for her cooking skills.  She always had some type of casserole or dessert prepared in the event someone needed it.  Everyone especially loved her fudge.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Highland Pines and Hospice of East Texas for their loving and compassionate care and support during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
