Funeral services for Mary Lou Gibbons, 74, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Monday, July 25, 2011 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend David English officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the funeral home. Mrs. Gibbons was born on December 28, 1936 in Beckville to Tommie and Ida Jones and moved to Longview in 1955. She attended Beckville High School and Kilgore College. She married Doulas L. Gibbons on June 10, 1955. She passed away on July 22, 2011 in a Longview nursing facility. She was a homemaker and retired from LISD after 27 years of committed service. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Longview. A loving mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Gibbons was preceded in death by her husband of 48 ½ years and sister Edna Fay Green. She is survived by her sons, Doug Gibbons and wife Lynnette, Robert Gibbons and wife Nancy; grandchildren, Lacye, Hailea, Katherine, Adam, and Sarah; sisters, Ann Muckleroy and husband Pat, Hazell Allen, Judy Allred and husband Virgil; brothers, Tommy Jones and friend Judy Burton, and Warren Jones and wife Wanda as well as a number of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Gibbons to: American Heart Assocation, 1125 Judson Road, Suite 150, Longview, Texas 75605 or American Diabetes Association 1701 North Beauregard Street Alexandria, VA 22311.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Summer Meadows nursing home and the staff at Texas Home Health Hospice for their loving care and dedicated service in their time of need.
