Mary Lou Lock's Obituary
Services for Mary Posey Lock, 86 of Longview, will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10am. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the funeral service. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Grapeland, Texas at 3pm.
Mary Lou was born in Dallas TX on August 31, 1929, to loving parents James and Vivian Posey. Her family soon left Dallas and moved to Grapeland, TX. She met her future husband, James Curtis Lock. Following high school, Mary Lou attended East Texas Baptist University, completing her work at Sam Houston State University where she achieved a bachelor’s degree in education. She also attended Sul Ross State University where she completed her master degree also in education. Mary Lou spent over 20 years working in the field of education across the state of Texas. In retirement, Mary Lou and her husband enjoyed traveling across the US and Europe. She also became an avid doll maker, winning international first prizes for the quality of her dolls.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, James Posey and Vivian Bradley Boggus, her brother Jimmy Posey, as well as her great-grandson Lance Alexander Keener. Those that are left to cherish their memories of Mary Lou include her husband, James Curtis Lock; her children, Sarah Cole and husband Beaver, and James Michael Lock and wife Marie; grandchildren Celeste Fears and husband Jerry, Kristine Natseway and husband David, Jennifer McDonald and husband Joshua, Jason Lock and wife Tamara, and Chris Lock and wife Angela; as well as 14 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and sisters Rebecca Posey and Anita Posey Doty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
