Mary Gray Rathbun's Obituary
Services for Mary Gray Rathbun, 90, of Longview will be held at 10 Am Thursday in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Miller, Dr. Bill O'Neal and the Rev. Jonathan Jehorek officiating. The music will include ""it is Well With My Soul" by soloist Tim Konvalin and organist Gwen Harrison. Burial will be in Memory Park. Arrangements are under direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mrs. Rathbun was born to Annie Tulin and George P. Gray on Sept. 23, 1912, in Statesboro, GA, the youngest of the couple's 13 children.
Mrs. Rathbun was preceded in death in 1979 by her husband of 49 years, Ira Avon Rathbun, and in 1985, by one son, Richard Byril Rathbun.
She was a member of the Thelma Morgan Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church of Longview where whe had been a member for 51 years.
Over the years, Mrs. Rathbun served on the boards of East Texas Treatment Center in Kilgore and the American Red Cross and was a volunteer with the Good Shepherd Medical Auxillary for more than 50 years. She also held memberships in the Longview Women's Forum, the Oak Crest Women's Club, the Longview Garden Club and the Longview Symphony Guild.
She is survived by three sons, Irs Gray Rathbun and his wife, jean, John P. "Casey" Rathbun and his wife, Sally, and Michael Lewis Rathbun and his wife, Diana; her daughters-in-law, Joan N. Rathbun, Sue M. Rathbun and Shelia H. Rathbun; her 8 grandchildren, Joanie, R. Russell and her husband, Bill, W. Gray Rathbun, Matthew A. Rathbun and his wife, Claire, Eric Rathbun and his wife, Amy, Vincent Rathbun, Kelly Leigh Jennings and her husband, Jeremy, Stacy Rathbun, Stacey Boatright and husband, Kevin; 7 great grandchildren, Mary Virginia Russell, Emma Grace Russell, Kelsey Lynn Oubre, Laurel Boatright, Abigail Boatright, Alexandra Rathbun and John Patrick "J.P." Rathbun; special nephews, Sammy Gray and Richard Gray; and her special friends, "The Birthday Girls"
