Mary Evelyn Jennings' Obituary
Graveside services for Mary Evelyn Jennings of Longview will be Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 11am at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview with the Reverend Kevin Bright officiating. Mrs. Jennings was born May 11, 1930 in Gilliam, Louisiana. She died August 23, 2012 at the age of 82 after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Jennings was a graduate of Sabine High School and Kilgore Junior College. Mary married James Benton Jennings on July 21, 1951. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Tom G. and Myrtle Bricker Smith; her brother, Dewey Smith; and son-in-law, Randy Newman. The family will receive friends from 5pm – 7pm Monday, August 27, 2012 at the funeral home.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David Jennings of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Ann Jennings of Stafford, Virginia; and daughter, Suzanne Newman of Longview. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Jason Newman Gena, Melanie Costa Brian, Lauren Terrell John, Amy Shears Justin, and Justin Jennings; and six great-grandchildren, Isabel, Bryce, James, Will, Jax, and Brenna.
The family wishes to thank her loving caregivers, the nurses and staff of Beacon Hospice, and the friends who have lifted her in prayer during her illness. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Heights Baptist Church Renovation Fund or to Margaret's House.
