Mary Day Bruner's Obituary
Mary Day Bruner, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011. She was born December 8, 1923 in Sulphur Springs, TX to Jo and Arthur Snow. Mary was the former owner of Berkley's Shoe Store on Tyler Street. She was a long standing member of First Christian Church and a proud member of the Cornerstone Adult Sunday School class.
Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Johnny Day and Orville Bruner; and her sisters, Ava Walters and Florence Anderson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, John Day and his wife Betsy of Houston, and Joe Day and his wife Janet of Longview; her grandchildren, Andrea Day of New York, Nathan Day of Austin, Mary Catherine Day and her fiancé, Randy Wolfe of Seattle, WA, and Jenny Day Amalfi and her husband Patrick of Houston and great grandson, Cole. Mary is also survived by her sisters and brothers in law, Rose and Thomas Russell, Jerrie and Jim Anderson, Jackie and Jack Shrode; and sister-in-law Hughlene Patrick as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial service at 11 AM at First Christian Church in Longview with Dr. Richard Emerson officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, East Texas Literacy, Meals on Wheels or to a favorite charity.
