Mrs. Chapman died peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Chapman was a native of Longview born on December 13, 1933 to Thomas Anderson Turner and Robbie Lorene Turner. After graduating from Judson High School, she attended Kilgore Jr. College where she was a cheerleader and a Rangerette. She loved being a Rangerette Forever and marched with the group in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in later years. She worked for United Gas until she met and married Jerry Jay Chapman in January, 1954.
Annette’s primary job was a homemaker and mom to her three daughters until the time they reached their teen years. She then obtained her realtor’s license and worked for Fugitt Realty for many years. Her real love was travel so she later embarked on a career with Master Travel until such time that she could no longer travel. She spent her free time participating and serving in organizations such as, United Methodist Women, Longview Federation of Womens Club, and Oak Crest Women’s Club. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church Longview where she volunteered countless hours especially when her children were growing up.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Jerry Jay Chapman; daughters Sheri Bauerlein and husband Ronnie of Katy, Sheryl Keeling and husband Ray of Houston, Suzette Lucy and husband Lester of Longview. Six grandchildren Courtney Bauerlein, Chapman Bauerlein, Catherine Bauerlein Lack and her husband Monty, Jerrie Lucy Decker and her husband Devann, Brett Lucy, and Jay Keeling. Annette cherished being a grandmother and loved her time with them. She was blessed that she got to see them grow up, attend each one’s high school graduation, college graduations, and the weddings of those recently married. She was so proud of all of them.
The family cannot adequately thank the caretakers from Comfort Keepers, LaCrystal “Nikki”, Nancy, Shay, and Connie, Lifecare Hospice nurses, Deb and Danyale who called her Mrs. Annette. It was Annette’s wish to stay at home so the family is thankful that this could be accomplished through the compassion and care provided by those mentioned. The family also wishes to acknowledge the various doctors who have looked after her these past several years.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Fredonia, Longview, Texas 75601 with Newgate Missions or Asbury House noted in the memo line. Memorials may also be made directly to these charities.
