Mary Agnes Gilliland, 86, died December 13, 2008 in Longview
She was born in Lufkin, Texas March 8, 1922 to Joseph A. and Agnes Wolford. She graduated from Lufkin High School, then attended Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio and Stephen F. Austin State Teacher's College.
She was a loving wife and mother, devoted to her children and grandchildren. She participated in outdoor activities and loved golf. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James E. Gilliland. Jim & Mary Agnes enjoyed traveling worldwide and visiting their many friends in Texas and elsewhere.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, active in Our Lady's Guild and a charter member of Catholic Daughters Court St. Bridget.
She is survived by her son Greg Gilliland and daughter in law Shannon, her daughter Gwen Tennison and her husband Mike, Grand daughters Mary Catherine Gilliland of Houston, Deborah Schmidt and husband Peter of Allen, Texas and great grandchildren Elaine, Emily and Douglas Schmidt.
A Rosary will be held in the chapel of the Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road at 7 pm on Monday December 15. Family will receive friends after the rosary at the Rader funeral home.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 16 at 10 am. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park.
